Time before you open up your eyes Time before you open up your eyes Time before you open up your eyes Time before you open up your eyes You know how to meet me there Only you know how to meet me there You know how to meet me there Only you know how to meet me there Flowers from the garden Blooming in my hand Taller than our father Blowing in the wind Water from the ocean Rolling in my bed Tell me how a daughter Could ever understand Tell me how a daughter Could ever understand

Time 03:12 video
Time was never easy on you Time was never easy on me, too Five, six, seven eight I’ve counted all the ways Nine, ten, eleven, twelve You wake up to the morning bells Put your long arms around me Have you ever thought of dancing Feeling fine Have you ever thought of dancing As moving into time Time was never easy on you Time was never easy on me, too Five, six, seven, eight You leave here now you’ll still be late Nine, ten, eleven, twelve Just listen to the morning bells Tell the people outside We are going out tonight 1234 Have you ever thought of dancing Feeling time Have you ever thought of dancing As swimming with the tide Put your long arms around me Put your long arms around

Amor, Amor, Amor, Amor Era o que eu tinha para ti Era uma história De uma vida lá fora Era verdade, era amor Amour, Amour, Amour, Amour C’est ce que j’avais pour toi C’était t’une histoire D’une vie ailleurs, C’était vrai, c’était l’amour Oh Love, oh love, oh love, love That’s what I had for you It was a story Of a life overseas It was real, it was love Amor, era eternidade Fruto da vontade Louco e sem saudade Corre em fuga à liberdade (L’amour était l'éternité Fruit de la volonté Fou, sans envie Court en fuite, vers sa liberté) (Love was eternity Fruit of the will Mad without longing Running towards freedom)

This is it? I came a long way The fire is out, but I can feel the flame What tangles inside of me? The question remains The question remains The question remains And how come you never get mad? Put your feelings outside How come you never get angry? How come you never get sad? Oh I believe I can master that Oh I believe I can This is now, who I am Stretching into a another shape I don’t quite understand Looking up at the moon, that used to hold my fate That old dream again But the question remains The question remains The question The question remains The question (April came and lent the land her rain) (August ran to warm your hands again) (Then Autumn’s here and nothing really changed) (Another year, the question still remains) How come you never get mad? Put your feelings outside How come you never get angry? How come you never get sad? Oh I believe I can master that Oh I believe I can Oh I believe I can master that Oh I believe I can

Kiss me now or never Hold me close or let me go I just want to feel your love again I would almost give you everything But it is the time that I let you know Or you hold me tight, or you better let me go Oh I know how hard you’ve tried To live all your alternative lives But you loved me once before Could you love me once again And carry me, into one dream, until the end, Just asking Is it now or never Hold me close or let me go I just want to feel your love again I just want to feel the love again and again Could take many times Could take many lives To break through that fear We just hold our hands, and understand and kiss and try again Could take many times Could take many lives To break through that fear We just hold our hands, and understand and kiss and make it real Kiss me now or never Hold me close or let me go

I’m learning my ways again The storm comes back and back again I see it roll across the lake Oh but I can only wait N’these buildings they planted here Though storms come back, back every year And my only shelter Is your hands over my hand Old storm stay away Oh no no, don’t come my way Our love is American Not just like the movies Our love is a miracle Growing wild through the concrete We drove and drove forever on That winding road into my heart And somehow in the desert All the flowers coming out Old storm feed the ground Let the pain teach us how As we grow from pieces Just running away Our love is American Not just like the movies Our love is a miracle Growing wild through the concrete

Lock me inside I am tired of being lonely The more that I try The more I get the feeling Its time, its time I go down Its time, its time I go down Lock me inside Arrest me to my own mind The more that I try The more I get this feeling This time, this time around Its ok, its time to go down Bridge Too many rivers to the sea Too many lovers in my heart Blue, curry, lilac, rust and ecru There’s too many, too many of you Na na na na na This time I’m gonna be right here Na na na na na Just feel the water cold and clear Na na na na no This time I’m gonna Just feel the water (Time to slow down)

All my life, all my life, I’ve been waiting for you And all this time, all this time, I’ve been saving for you A dream of you A dream come true Lovers in the street They don’t give hands anymore Baby when we meet I won’t take my hand off of yours Gently close your eyes Let time crystallize Oh I have you now All the light, (the light, the light) all this light Shinning on you All this light, all this light Shining from you A dream of you A dream come true Lovers in the street They don’t give hands anymore Baby when we meet I won’t take my hand off of yours Gently close your eyes Let time crystallize Oh I have you now Gently close your eyes Let time crystallize Oh I have you now You know I have you now

Hand Kisser 03:08
The lines you wrote in Portuguese Of life and love and overseas The lines I traced, on your face Your hands, your touch, your melody Your way of sitting next to me The way I miss it everyday Your feet were cold and tired I was too young to build the fire So I sang for you, you cried most of the time I keep it all in me I keep it I keep it all for me I keep Seeing you, seeing you, I can see you See you, I can see you The way you stood, the way you smiled, The chicken coop, the gate, the tile, The way you looked, when you talked about him Your eyes would light, your voice would ring You saw my art, my song, my dream And everything, from the corner of the yard I keep it all in me I keep it I keep it all for me I keep Seeing you, seeing you, I can see you See you, I can see you My hand-kisser, I kissed your hands My hand-kisser, I kissed your hands My hand-kisser, I kissed your hands See you, see you I can

Read My Mind 04:58
I started smoking Just to hang around you then I started playing Just to hear the sound of you singing Like you know You know how to read my mind Don’t you? Yeah you know You know how to read my mind I started walking down The streets we used to run Its all as it was But somehow its like everything’s gone And I can’t tell what But you know You know how to read my mind Don’t you? Yeah you know You know how to break my heart in two Yeah you know You know how to read my mind Oh the time it takes To recreate, Hold hands, Forget, and love again

about

A debut album of effortless, grounding folk-pop from St. John’s-based Portuguese-Canadian artist Nico Paulo.

Filled with concepts of time, water, flowers and family, Paulo’s songs have a way of lending heavy themes a buoyancy, her vocals feeling equally warm and direct. In the tradition of singers like Gal Costa, Nico, Feist or Victoria Legrand, Paulo packs profound strength into songs that spare no tenderness or nuance.

Along with beautiful arrangements that pull out the finer details of the compositions, Paulo’s songs are captured here by the expert production team of Joshua Van Tassel and Tim Baker.
